MRA-AK       ONEGITE (goethite included quartz) on AMAZONITE (manebach twin)

2nd Mesabi Claim, Lake George, Park County, Colorado

Collected by Ray Berry 1984.

1" H x 1" L x 5/8" W (thumbnail). Onegite is not a species, but a local name applied to quartz, usually amethyst, citrine, or commonly smoky quartz that contains goethite inclusions. This specimen has tiny reverse scepter amethystine crystals clustered on top of an amazonite. The amazonite is medium mottled color and is a manebach twin crystal. Very rare association and remarkable thumbnail specimen.
