ONEGITE (goethite included quartz)

1 3/8" L x 1" W x 5/8" H (miniature). Beautiful lustrous druse of onegite crystals, mostly amethystine with some chocolate brown on goethite.

Onegite is not a species, but a local name applied to quartz, usually amethyst, citrine, or commonly smoky quartz that contains goethite inclusions. This onegite comes from a pocket collected by Ray Berry in the late 1970s, which produced what many consider the finest onegite crystals from the district.
