MRA=AC AMAZONITE with QUARTZ pseudomorph after ZINNWALDITE
BIG PEGGY POCKET, OLD MAN ROCK, FLORISSANT, TELLER COUNTY, COLORADO
Collected by Ray Berry on what is now the Smoky Hawk Mine. Ray Berry No. 2033 (Berry label included).
2 3/4" L x 1 3/4" W x 1 1/4" H (small cabinet). 2 1/4" PSEUDOMORPH specimen. This is an example of a rare pseudomorph. Quartz has completely replaced the zinnwaldite crystal. The platy structure of the mica can be seen in this sample. Micro rutile is also on the quartz. The amazonite displays one nice white stripe side..
Of note, the Icon Pocket was found about twenty feet to the south of the Big Peggy Pocket. Ray Berry had dug down about ten feet by hand to discover the Big Peggy Pocket. The Big Peggy Pocket contained nicely colored amazonite of fine crystal shape and size with moderate white stripes and white caps.
